Keep our wonderful kids safe in Douglas County Schools!!!
2023 MLO/Bond 5A & 5B
MANY THANKS TO ALL WHO SUPPORTED 5A and 5B. We are very happy that our teachers and staff get to celebrate the passing of 5A!!!
To celebrate, we had an APPLE BAR in December 2023.
Keep our wonderful teachers in Douglas County Schools!!!
The DCSD Board of Education voted unanimously to place a $66M Mill Levy Override and $484M Bond on the November 2023 ballot.
All seven Board directors expressed their strong support and personal dedication to our students and our staff.
The Board also unanimously adopted a compensation resolution that will automatically trigger if the MLO passes. For school district staff, this means pay increases would happen automatically should the MLO pass (with increases being paid retroactively back to July 1).
To learn more about how additional funding would benefit our schools and our staff, visit www.dcsdk12.org/funding. We also encourage you to read through the MLO/Bond plan.
A MLO/Bond WILL enable the school district to:
Retain and attract excellent teachers and staff by increasing pay to be more competitive with neighboring school districts.
Increase and maintain safety and security with additional support such as School Resource Officers and implementing school safety and security upgrades.
Provide additional trades and career and technical education opportunities for students to further set students up for success after high school.
Update, maintain, and construct educational facilities as described in the school district’s bond plan to ensure safe and adequate learning spaces and to reduce overcrowding.
Should the measures pass, it would mean Ranch View Middle School will be able to:
Replace chiller
Replace boiler(s)
Install a new IP intercom system for building
Overhaul elevator
Replace domestic hot water system, heaters, pumps, and storage
Replace the generator and associated equipment
Replace VCT
Replace original sheet vinyl flooring with poured acrylic in all restrooms
Replace sink countertops in all restrooms
Student/Staff device refresh
Safety and security upgrades
Pay increases for teachers and staff
With a $66 million Mill Levy Override, DCSD would:
Make staff pay more competitive, in order to keep valued teachers and staff in the school district
Increase and maintain safety and security, with additional support such as School Resource Officers, or SROs
Providing safe and effective learning environments is so important for student and staff well-being. With a $484 million Bond, DCSD would:
Invest in school safety and security upgrades to buildings (such as hardening of school buildings)
Provide additional Career and Technical Education opportunities for students (such as increasing the number of automotive and other CTE pathway courses)
Update, maintain and construct educational facilities to ensure safe and adequate learning spaces and reduce overcrowding
What would this cost you? A Douglas County taxpayer would expect to pay $20 per year per $100,000 of home value. So, for a million dollar home, the total increase of both measures combined would be $200 per year.
